Jet popped off the sofa this afternoon and started to favour his right front leg. He has not been whining and there was no death scream so I do not think he has a major injury, but he is hobbling on 3 legs holding his other leg in the air. I have very gently run my hands all down his leg and the problem appears to be one of his toes or maybe a claw. I cannot find an actual injury, but he winces and pulls the foot away when I get near his claw. I have put some arnica on it , but am wondering if there is anything else I can do for him and should I be taking him to the vet to have a look at it? All help and advice gratefully received.

Poor Jet I hope its nothing at all serious....but......I find they are stoic when it hurts and reserve the death scream for when its really nothing at all If he's not any better tomorrow Kay, I'd get him checked out by the vet

I'd agree with Samburns especially about the death scream and it's not very serious .. if you can get Arnica 30c tablets (Boots do them I think) they're good too as well as the cream - 3x tabs twice a day and if it's a tendon/ligament then Rhus Tox 30c may also help J xx

Oh poor lad . Yep, I'd pop him to the vet's tomorrow, too, if he's not fully mended Jo x

We went to see the vet this morning - Jet was thrilled as he always wants to go into the surgery as we go past. They do train vets well don't they - he took one look at Jet with his foot in the air and said " he's hurt his paw then !!!!" Jet wee'd up the wall and then proceeded to try and get under the desk . The vet gave him a thorough examination - he's found the site of the problem ( 2 adjoining toes) , but not the cause. He also mentioned that he is not very flexible in his joints. Jet's now on pain killers and limited exercise - and we both hate it . And we are just keeping a watching brief to see how it goes . On the plus side the vet commented on what a healthy ' well-muscled boy he is . It is quite funny taking him out because he is doing a wonderful drama queen, leg in the air hobble - but if he sees a cat the foot is forgotten and it's action stations.
