Hi all,
Blue has been really scratching at what I thought was his ear today. I just had an investigate, and he has a very red ulcer or abscess above one of his canine teeth. Well to be fair he only has his canines left.
I'm just wondering if I should take him to the vets, or if I can treat at home?
I rubbed some bonjella on it, which I think he licked straight off!
Thanks Michele

If its an abscess he'll need ABs. Hope its soon better.

I've just had another look, it's very red, but can't tell if it's an abscess or not. I think I'll see how it looks in the morning, as I'd not get in today anyway now. If it's still as red will get him down to the vet.
Thanks

I'd take him to the vets as if it's an abcess he could lose another tooth and they look really goofy with canines missing. Can you tell that Joly doesn't have many more than his canines ?

Flash had red ulcerous gums above his canines last year - he too only had his canines left ;D. It wasn't an abcess but it did need AB's to get rid of it. Hope he's feeling better soon Maryx

Thanks all, I don't think he's any stinkier than usual, he seems OK in himself, but we will get him checked tomorrow, don't want it turning nasty.
