Theses last few days Barkley has been eating much better. I have bought him a new food stand that is stable and he has a place of his own where it goes every mealtime. He eats in the same room as the others and I always supervise. Occassionally he will still refuse a meal.Normally he'll stay on his bed and not bother to get up to even try and eat. This is usually at breakfast time which is about 7.30 to 7.45 a.m. a good hour plus after they have been walked. This time co- incides with Dave leaving for work and Barkley just spends his time standing at the door listening and looking for Dave and ignores his meal. I could try offering it to him when Dave comes in for lunch but would rather he eats with the others and not dependent on Dave being around. He really has bonded with him and adores him. He will seek him out and choose to be with him over anyone. We haven't overly fussed him and like the others he is fine to be left when we are out or just in another room although will whine a bit if he hears Dave.I am pretty sure his food refusal is a lot to do with Dave being around or not but generally he doesn't have a big appetite but is always up for treats.I've tried adding no water, more water no meat, less meat etc but it doesn't make a difference. Any ideas gratefully received please.

I'm trying to remember what my old boy did .. he'd been worked and his feeding times were not ours .. I don't think he 'did' breakfast at first but did tea and then wanted a feed really late at night so I guessed he'd had a small feed then was taken out and worked but fed well when he got home - obviously at some ungodly hour when I wanted to be fast asleep He eventually got into our routine .. I think I wouldn't be too worried and -if he needs feeding up so missing meals are not good then I'd just increase his other feeds to make up for no breakfast but not pander to him or he might get much too attached to Dave .... J xx

I wouldnt worry too much Linda, it took Trevor a good few weeks to settle and eat his meals, he didn't eat much at all at first, especially breakfast. He know eats everything As long as he's fine in himself I wouldnt worry too much

Thanks both just worrying a bit too much I think. I forget what the others were like at mealtimes apart from Tia who is just a gut bucket. ;D He's been wandering a bit which I have learnt is a sign he is hungry so just offered it again with a sardine mixed in and he scoffed the lot.I'll have to feed him later than the others and gradually get earlier if he''ll eat it. To me he's a bit skinny but not knowing his mix I could be totally wrong, just that I can really feel his back bone. Now if it were Fat Boy Flynn I wouldn't worry I can't feel anything under his coat. ;D ;D
