We Frontlined Katy on Sunday having noticed that she had what looked like a rash on her belly (checked with kennels and she had not had any parasite treatment there) - it is less red and irritated looking now but looking more closely some raised red bumps and she is still nibbling at her rear end where she has a few similar looking little bumps and which looks a bit sore She scratches occasionally although she is by no means excessively irritated bless her. Just wondering whether she needs something else....had a quick look on the Frontline website and while that seems to deal with fleas and ticks, I'm wondering if she maybe has mites or something which the Frontline won't have helped with? Is it okay to use something else in conjunction? Sorry it feels like such a basic question

It could be a flea allergy, Mag had a rash when we had her, alongside a few critters. It was round her back end, it went when the fleas did. We use Advantage on Den, as he gets teeny baldy patches on his muzzle in Jan/ Feb. We've never found out what it is, but as soon we use Advantage on him it clears up I've never had any trouble with Frontline, but you can get Advantage without a prescription now, so we use it on all of them Emma x

I wonder if the fox mites are about? Charlie scratched a bit but I can't see anything .. Lucy's been a nightmare with worms tho ... I wormed her last year a couple fo times cos she looked wormy then I reckon I've wormed her four times this year (for tape/round worm then for every worm under the sun) cos she's been nibbling her bum and her coat's not great .. I've even had her blood tested in case it was her thyroid or something else then last week I saw tapeworm eggs (uugghh) so I've done her again with Easimax Plus and I'll do her again in 2 weeks (I think it was after 2 weeks in the instructions ) My friend Ruth was saying she's had some greys in which have taken months to clear of worms ...maybe some are just more susceptible to them like horses can be Horrible things After the last wormers Lucy looked more 'filled out' after a couple of days so hopefully I'm getting rid of the barstewards Poor Lucy ... J xx

I would be getting stronger flea and worm treatments from the vets or from the kennels as they will probably have them in stock rather then over the counter stuff as she had come out of poor conditions. It's a little naughty of them not to have treated her prior to her leaving the kennels because you don't know what she has picked up. We always treat the poundies with Stronghold flea and Milbemax wormers which are prescribed as who knows where they've been.
I'm assuming she's been fully vet checked as her leg has been looked at but if it persists after treatment I would get it looked at, she may need further treatment.

I think Fronline is very effective even though it is now an over the counter products. It sounds similar to the rash Rio used to get occasionally which turned out to be a flea allergy. Bob Grass skincure cream used to sort the rash out within a couple of days.

Thanks everyone I *think* its most likely a flea allergy....it has definitely improved since the Frontline, no signs of any nasties on her. Will find out if she's been wormed and get that done too if not.
