Does anybody give their hounds Evening Primrose?
Both Solly & Pacey have bad dandruff & dry skin. Have heard that Evening Primrose could help, also may encourage growth fir their bald bums ;D

Yes, Jet takes it every day - in fact this has reminded me that I need to buy some more . His fur is returning to his thighs and belly and everyone who strokes him comments on how soft and shiny his coat is.

I tried them with the capsules but they wouldn't eat them, it was lovely finding slimy dissolving capsules hidden in corners and under furniture ;D I tried squeezing them out but they then declined to eat their food Gave up and bought whatever oil vetuk had cheapest at the time which usually contained some EPO and they ate their food with it on no problem They'll eat cod liver oil but epo must taste vile to the little darlings!

I have just purchased some more Evening Primrose Capsules from Vet UK for my 3 Greys, I used to snip the capsules but now they all consume them with there food. Coats are lovely and healthy and also helps Luca's skin. +1 from me.

Yep, Nell has evening primrose capsules - one a day - for her scurfy skin, and I think they really have done some good . We burst the capsule and squeeze it onto her food, and it doesn't deter her from eating at all Jo x

Perry has Evening Primrose too.Perhaps I'm being optimistic - but he does seem to be slowly getting more covering on his bum and lower sides. The rest of his coat is lovely and soft - Cath.

Gizzi has epo on the vet's advice - not sure if it has really helped the dandruff as she still has some. However I wrap it up in a dollop of peanut butter and put it on her food and it's the first thing she eats.
Good luck...

Never thought of giving evening primrose oil to Brooke - I take it for hot flushes but haven't noticed I've become any more hairy or my skin is any better ;D

Hi, I give my grey Trudy evening primrose and natural yogurt everyday, I have had her since feb this year, she suffered with dandruff a lot and she was going bald on her bum, now since giving the above, she has a beautiful shiny back full fur coat.

Would you give EPO instead of Cod Liver oil? Both Eddison and Poppy have 5ml a day.

I give Gizzi evening primrose capsule 3 times a day on the vet's recommendation. I buy cheap ones from Aldi or Wilko and wrap them in peanut butter and put them on her food. It's the first thing she eats! Her coat and skin are improving but slowly so don't expect immediate results.
