Lovely people of Gap, we have an idea to put to you: There is a huge amount of motivation, goodwill and team spirit being displayed in the wake of Lisa's appeal earlier this week, so we are hoping to harness that wonderful Dunkirk spirit to make one massive collective Gap fundraising push next weekend Please is anyone free for a few hours next weekend to participate in a Pets at Home fundraiser local to them? There are MANY Pets at Home stores that have fundraising space next weekend that we could book - in fact more than you can shake a stick at! If it's possible for us to link those spaces with local Gap volunteers, the collective impact could magic a much needed quick boost for the Gap coffers and outreach that could find forever homes for some of our lovely hounds. If we have the support and momentum to go ahead, next weekend's 'big push' will not impinge in any way upon the full-scale Pets at Home fundraisers that many of our volunteers are already working so hard to arrange. The 'big push' collections would be small-scale, no frills simple events that would last for as long or as little time as folks feel comfortable giving If you think you would like to help (and have a lot of fun into the bargain), please can you post on this thread giving an indication of:
1. Your geographical area (the first half of your postcode)
2. The day(s) next weekend that you could donate your time
3. The times that you would be available (no matter how little )
4. How far (if at all) you would be willing to travel
If you think you're able to help, please be reassured that you'll receive all the practical, moral and material support that you need. We're hoping to provide an easy, fun and hassle-free way for some of you to get involved and really make a difference in Gap's hour of need. I am hoping to get a feel by tomorrow night of who we have 'willing and available' so that we can book slots and get the ball rolling . . . Thank you so much Jo x

Right Jo, put us (me and Lynne & possibly Colin) down for this please. Lynne is free next weekend and Colin maybe depending on location and day.
We are talking Leicestershire - LE6 and LE14
Saturday or Sunday 1st choice Saturday but only because it might be busier out there, and therefore more profitable.
Approx 10am to 4pm - ish. (depends on response really, could stay longer if it looks like being worthwhile)
Preferably within the county.
Have looked at local stores and there are:
Loughborough
Loughborough Unit 2B Willowbrook Retail Park Loughborough
Leicester
Unit 6 St George's Retail Park St George's Way Leicester LE1 1SG
Leicester Fosse
Grove Farm Triangle Enderby Leicester LE19 1WT
and
Melton Mowbray
Unit 3, 31 Scalford Road Melton mowbray Leicestershire LE13 1JY
Thoughts on these:
Loughborough is on a retail park, Homebase, Halfords, Dreams, Pizza Hut etc. so passing trade possibly, and we are maybe getting towards the DIY season. Saturday would be 1st choice, but could do Sunday. Handy for us, approx 25-30mins from home.
Also wondered if there were one or two other folks over Loughborough way who may feel inclined to join us?
Leicester is on a retail park, Wickes, Mothercare, ToysRUs, Currys, Aldi etc. so again passing trade. Hours as before Accessible for us.
Leicester Fosse - although this is near to a major retail park it is actually situated on a smaller site surrounded by busy roads so limited passing trade unless we attract the supermarket visitors. Not easy to approach on foot. I haven't visited this one previously and it may well be a larger store and therefore attract more pet owners. Hours as before Access should be okay, although a little further for Lynne & Colin to get to
Melton Mowbray store is somewhat isolated being on a small site at a very busy junction. I wouldn't think there would be a great deal of passing trade.
Appreciate we may be governed by P@H as to where and when, but we would suggest
1. Loughborough Saturday or Sunday 2. Leicester (St. Georges) Saturday or Sunday 3. Leicester Fosse Saturday or Sunday 4. Melton Mowbray possible but would certainly be last choice.
Right over to you missus, I've rambled on long enough.
Jackie x

Me and Matt are up for it Seeing as distance doesn't correlate with time traveling in and around London though, I would say any PAH starting with the following postcodes: E, N, SE, EN or IG Or CM postcodes if anyone else in Essex is around Our postcode is E17 Our local is Chingford I would rather not do Waltham Abbey as our local RGT is 'partners' with that PAH branch and don't want to ruffle feathers Available Saturday or Sunday

I have been to Just 4 Pets today and have asked about booking a M&G there for Gap. They are fully booked up until the end of April, but they will phone me on Monday with available dates. Hopefully I can get 3 or 4 dates booked up for the next few months.. After seeing this thread, will contact Pets at Home to see if I can arrange a booking for this weekend. Will let you know when I know . Sue x

Hi,
Jackie - I've been thinking about your post for Leicester collections.
Fosse Park P@H is a large store with a vet surgery and grooming salon within but is isolated from other retail stores on the complex.
They are fairly busy, but it is likely you will only get P@H customers as the store front is not easily visible and there is no passing footfall.
However Sainsburys is nearby [walking distance] has a very heavy footfall all day and often allow charity collectors, plus they have an undercover entrance. Perhaps a combination of the two sites should raise a fair amount, but would need a few at each store.
Kate and I could help out at these, and there's a cafe in Sainsburys which is also very busy all day [the coffee is lovely from there].

Thanks for offering to help out but we are now committed to St. Georges retail park for next Saturday. Who knows, maybe some other time we could try Fosse if as you say Sainsbury's would entertain a presence outside their entrance. Jackie x

We have a new pets at home opening in Northallerton soon (not sure when) - just wondered if it would be worth trying to get a collection sorted out with them?
