(Posted here by Lisa's request )
Phebe is a sweet 8/9 year old Lurcher. She came into us after her owner took her to our vets to put her to sleep. She was in a bit of a state when she came to us but has made huge progress.
She has been on foster in Plymouth where she has made massive improvements in her behaviour with other dogs and is now happy to live with other dogs if introduced slowly. However she has shown slight collar and sleep aggression and her fosterers are no longer happy to have her in their home whilst these issues are still present as they have regularly visiting grand children.
Phebe is now going to be transported up to your kennels as Lisa has kindly offered to have her their temporarily and help work on her issues. However Phebe really struggles in kennels - she previously spent a brief time in kennels whilst waiting for a foster home but wasn't happy as she likes being around people (she thinks of herself as a lap dog!)
This is why we are making this appeal... Phebe really needs a foster, or even better, forever home.
Due to her issues, she needs somebody who has experience with the breed or with these issues.
She is timid at first but well behaved and a real sweetheart. Phebe has been house trained, vaccinated, micro chipped and spayed. As previously stated, Phebe is good with other dogs if introduced carefully and slowly.
Phebe has done fantastically in her foster home. She now has good recall and knows sit, paw and will 'talk' to you when she wants something. She has come along massively and is even learning to play - but she couldn't care less about toys!
When playing she jumps on average 5-6 feet (she'll need a secure garden) and she will growl which gives a negative impression but her fosterer is sure that this is only in a playful way! Phebe pulls on the lead for the first 10 minutes or so but she does calm after a while, and walks pleasantly after. Of course she loves being off lead and will chase other dogs until they turn around to play and then she is straight back to her fosterer for reassurance!
All told, she is a great dog and has come a long way. With patience and encouragement (and maybe the odd treat or two!) she will be an amazingly loving and loyal pet.
