Can anyone kindly offer me some advise / benefit of their experience. From time to time Spook has episodes of what I can only describe as sleep walking. It is only ever at night, but for the past two nights he’s been wandering about like a zombie at 3am,
it’s hard to explain what he is like, his eyes are like saucers and he wanders around and around, sometimes bumping into things, it’s like he doesn’t know where he is. He will stand if I smooth him but as soon as I take my hand off him he is off again wandering about. It goes on for hours. Last night he was up from about 2.30 – 5.30 just wandering about. Does anyone have any experience of this? Should I crate him at night? Do you think it might be a symptom of something else? Should I take him to the vet?
It isn’t every night by any means, he seems to have episodes of a few nights then is fine for months. I can’t think of any difference in his life, diet, surrounding that may cause him to be restless at night. He really doesn’t seem to be awake, it’s like he is sleep walking, is that possible?
Any thoughts much appreciated
Jo x

Get him to your vets and get him checked out Jo it sounds like it could be a very mild form of epilepsy so you need to speak to them about the occurances and let them see what they think

Jo
Did you ever find out about Spooks "sleep walking"?
I have a 4 year old girl (Katie) who is showing the same signs every 6 months or so for a couple of nights. She starts wandering around not knowing where she is going and has that vague, blank look, eyes like saucers head turning quickly to search where she is walking to. She is unable to climb any stair but eventually after comforting and talking to her quietly she will go back to her bed. I know she has settled when she sighs. Has anyone else experience this strange "Sleep walking" experience? many thanks
Katie's Dad:)

Hi Katie's dad and welcome to Gap.
Jo's Spook was indeed diagnosed with epilepsy and I believe he is still doing well on medication - I will see if I can nudge Jo in case she doesn't see this and she may be able to give you some information x
