Putting a thread back up in here for Connie as I have no idea where the original one went and she is still with us in kennels
Connie has now been with us a while after landing in our care via a stray pound.
When she landed she looked like this such a thin little waif.....
However, we are very proud of the beautiful, strong girl she has materialised into....
On first arriving with us Connie was a sweetheart then gained weight and turned into a typical big, boisterous, pig headed little Madam
She needed alot of work to bring her round to acceptable behaviour, both on lead and with other dogs.
Now Connie is turning into a dream. She is loving, much more gentle and her manners have improved six fold. She is still not a mixer with the other dogs but tolerates them happily unless they rudely bounce in her face then she will tell them off. We have been off leading her at times with one of our very large bull cross problem dogs Leo and she has most definatly got the upper hand and keeps him in line. Typically as a heavy built girl she does like to play typical rough lurcher games so has to be watched at times and we always run her in a muzzle.
Connie we feel would be best suited as an only dog with someone around most of the time to settle her into a new environment to begin with. She needs firmness and consistancy as her breeding of whippet, saluki and staffi means that she constantly needs gentle reminders of how things are done. It does need noting that Connie has been well worked before landing in our care so caution needs to be taken around cats and small furries, she is also not stock broken so must be on lead around livestock (as is only common sense with most rescue hounds).
We feel Connie would flourish in a quieter environment so would not want to rehome her with younger children. Any new owner would have to have experience with rescue lurchers and time and patience to commit to her continued socialisation and recall.
All that said once again with small amounts of work put in Connie is going to be someones dream dog, she is a firm favourite at the kennels and one of those dogs that has us all saying ..... I wish.
Connie travels well and although in kennels is relatively clean so we see no reason why there should be a problem with house training.
Connie is vaccinated, kc vaccinated, de flead, de wormed, microchipped and spayed.

As Jen says she is a very together dog who is more than comfortable in her own skin and knows her own mind well. She is firm but fair and works happily as a teaching dog with the youngsters at the kennels who have manners that leave alot to be desired. 
even though Connie didnt do anything and hid behind his Mum and Auntie Jen. We let him back off with the Beardie after and he didnt even attempt to go over as he stood and was thinking long and hard about the implications of other dogs not being afraid of you and showing you clearly that they were not! ;D
