Bit of a long shot - but is there anyone living near the Holmes Chapel area (Crewe, Cheshire) who could let me know of any largish enclosed fields etc where I could start letting Misty off to work on her recall? She has reacted so well to other dogs, tail wagging madly, play bowing, friendly sniffing etc, not even getting too excited around the small ones (with muzzle securely on though!) - and when playing off lead (in the garden) and no muzzle with a friend's dobe has been great. She is desperate to join in and I think would play nicely, and is literally twitching and dancing with excitement when dogs in the park are running around together - she knows she could leave them all standing ;D - but I'm not sure I'd get her back if I just let her off and hope! Small furries are def still of major interest - "Leave it!" clearly means anything from 'skulk along tracking it out of the corner of your eye' to 'stop dead in your tracks, root to the spot, become stone deaf and try to kill it by glaring at it with basilisk eyes' - but still ;D Any suggestions for nearby places that people have used/ know of would be really appreciated.

hello... im up the road in altrincham but cant think of anything between here and there thats secure we use the field round the corner from me for Tesse but i figure it's a bit far from you and what we call secure might not be enough (saying that tesse will cimb through most fences if let to it)

Nearly neighbours That is a bit far though, esp as I'm not a hugely confident driver. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to afford a bit of land?!

I was wondering about seeing if a few of us could book one of the local indoor riding schools for off leading - the west yorks ones are a bit of a trek to make them regularly - and maybe some of the stoke based 'gappers' would be interested? I can't think of anywhere outdoor to which the public has access that fits the bill. Alison that sells the csj has sheep proof fencing, it might be worth us asking her - i don't think the fencing on my family's land is up to greyhound escapology abilitites!!

The Yorkshire off-lead sessions are great and aren't too far for us, but I'd certainly try to support anything Cheshire-based as well ;D. Not that mine run, anyway . . . they just walk around the perimiter ignoring me and then they lie down! Jo x

The alsager one is certainly very close to Stoke if anyone from there wants to join in. I have no voice at the moment (much to the delight of those who have to live with me ) but when i do I will do a bit of ringing around and see what can be done ;D

The Alsager one looks like quite a straightforward drive from Holmes Chapel so I might brave it if they're willing to take dogs.

I'm quite lucky cos where I keep my neddies there is a 40 acre something x-country course with a few fully fenced and gated fields in between so I can let Teasel and Merlin rip round one of them. They soon get tired after 100 or so laps at full speed. ;D
However, I would be interested in joining in any off lead activity somehere in Cheshire just for the fun of it.

We use to hire Alsager and run off lead sessions there so yes they will let you. Its just awkward getting to hire the arena as they use it such a lot it was a week night usually around 8pm. Im happy to get back involved IF we can get a regular spot.
