Hi all my dog is fine and has no lice etc and isnt red or sore but her hair on the back of her legs is thinning a bit , I dont know if this is because of how she sleeps or something she is doing , . Is this normal She isnt bald or anything and she is very healthy.

Hi Stephen....if she is a greyhound this is perfectly normal ... they are prone to going bald around their thighs and back end, no one knows why.
When they come out of a kennel environment they also tend to moult like crazy then settle ... our bitch Cybil lost a lot of hair around her back end when she moved in and now after about four months it is mostly grown back...although some don't.

Went to a very interesting lecture on racing dogs a couple of years ago by John Kohnke who's a leading Aussie vet ... he said that unless it's a thyroid problem then hair loss is usually caused by dehydration as greys never drink enough and if on a complete diet they should drink even more so I just add half a mug of water to my two's feeds and Tig is fine..... nice to find a cheap solution for a change :=))

Julies, i heard that too - Ellie and oscar love veggie water, so they get that whenever we cook any, she also likes the water that you poach an egg in.
I have also found that using fish oils helps their coats look thicker.

Hope you don't mind me saying not to use veggie water if you salt it (like I do for potatoes), just a reminder ;D

Good point Vickyanne .. hi dora .. I give Fish4Dogs Salmon Oil for the Omega 3,6,9 .. I get it from big dog shows if I can and they do great offers so it's usually £6 a bottle not £14, mine also get the occasional pilchards in tomato sauce .

Some dogs will not grow it back no matter what you do. Goldie came here with bald thighs and despite trying everything nothing ever came close to even starting to work.
So instead of spending a forture and worrying what others may think I embrace the wonderfulness that is the weird phenominum of Greyhound's bald thighs ;D

Esme has two cute little patches of baldness i call her baldy bum! But i didnt know that dehydration can be a cause i do feed a complete, but esme always has salt free water or stock on hers. I will try to encourage more drinking! ;D
