Scent marking?

Solo is a funny creature, so catlike it's bizarre, but the last couple of days he has developed a new habit - scent marking, or at least I think it is He has taken to rubbing the door frames with the underside of his chin like a cat His teeth are great and he eats well, there's nothing itchy or spotty under his chin, and he seems to be happy when doing it, not distressed. He just rubs his chin at his head height on the internal doorframes - I haven't seen him do it on the external doors.

What's going on? Anyone know? Is he just scent marking? Or the insanity of this house getting to him? ;D

I've no idea but I have seen ours do it from time to time. Maybe it's like a trail of breadcrumbs in woods, just in case he gets lost

sonny also rubs his chin on things.he loves doing it on the arms of the settee mostly(maybe its a crazy saluki thing )
he has always done it since we had him so i,ve never wondered why he does we just put it down to scenting.

Joe rubs his chin on the edge of the pool table, I just put it down to him being a bit dim

larry rubs his cheeks on the sofa and through any conifers when out walking.... i figured theres a smell he likes.

It's definitely not wiping pilchards off his chin - my lot do that on the sofa nor is it trancing like Matilda does round a couple of the shrubs in the garden; it is just like a cat does

Becks does it a lot, especially on the radiator in the hall and at the foot of our bed. He seems to find it satisfying. Alexa never does it unless its the mucky mouth wipe, but then shes a girl.
