I've picked up some fresh pig's liver and kidneys at the local food market - is this OK to feed to Paco?

Yes they will be fine, I always cook them & mix in with mixer. If he hasn't had them before I wouldn't give a huge amount in one go in case it's bit much for him.

Yes I have the same here when liver is cooking, lots of squeaking sniffing & teeth chattering Heart is a favourite as well, I just don't like cutting it up. The butcher we use always gives us a carrier bag full

I always cook it too and am also too squeamish to cut up heart . I tend to freeze when cooked, in small amounts and just feed a few pieces at a time or cook it up with mince to 'dilute' it. I'm always worried that I'll upset their stomachs so err on the side of caution. If he loves liver so much have you tried making liver cake as a treat? much better than bought stuff, cheap and easy. Yell if you want a recipe

mine don't like the garlic so I leave it out and having tried both ways I prefer to cook it in the oven for about 30 mins, longer if you want it more biscuity.
If you can't face liquidising liver (a stick blender works too) you can use mince, I use turkey mince too either alone or mixed with beef mince. I just mix meat, eggs, a tablespoon of peanut better and a squirt of tomato sauce, a couple of grated or chopped carrots (cooked) and either lightly blend with stick blender or a use a potato masher to squash it all up, then add flour, oil as necessary then bake 30 mins or so gas 5. cool, cut into squares and keep in fridge. Makes loads so I freeze it in small portions.
Mine also love fishy ones 1 oblong tin sardines in oil 1 oblong tin sardines in tom sauce 1 tin tuna in oil, or drain brine off well and add a tbs oil 2-4 beaten eggs (handy to use them up) 1 tbs peanut butter 2-3 grated or finely chopped carrots - cooked (microwave them ) 250g wholemeal flour
Mix everything except flour, can use liquidiser, stick blender or potato masher, add flour, if too stiff add another egg, water or oil, too sloppy, a bit more flour. should be like a stiff cake mix divide between 2 8 " cake tins, square if poss or a baking tray with 1" high sides. bake 25-30 mins, cool and cut into small squares.
This is high fat so ideal for active dogs who are not overweight or have problems digesting fat, or pancreatitis.
Very good for hiding tablets as it's soft to push them in and smells fishy

To make treats I use the prize choice 400g blocks of mince which means they get a variety of different meat treats; turkey, rabbit, tripe, beef, beef and tripe, chicken and chicken and liver. Mix meat with a couple of eggs, crushed garlic, olive oil, handful of bran and enough wholemeal flour to make a stiff cake mix and bake in the oven for 25 mins at 180c in high sided baking tray. These all seem to go down well and are generally used when high value treats are used for training, you can cut the pieces up to whatever size you want. I freeze them in small portion sizes and store defrosted treats in the fridge. Cheap, easy and apparently delicious!

Thanks for the receipes. Just a quick update. As I came through the door from work on Friday night I was greeted to the usual manic running around, bunny hoping general over-excitement of Paco. BUT then he got a smell of the bag of liver/kidneys I was carrying - THAT WAS IT. He howled and howled until I fed him and loved it. In the end - due to said howling - I decided to give him the raw liver liver with his James Wellbelloved. Did he love it?? YES HE DID.

Oooh don't mix raw meat with mixer, cooked meat is fine with mixer or raw meat on it's own. Raw food is digested at a different rate so mixing could cause an upset tum.

OH NO!!! Thanks Wanda. Wont do it again. Although he has been fine since Friday night so I am presuming we've been lucky and avoided bad tum...
