I know theres probably been lots of people asking this question before sorry - When I got Kym from the rescue kennels they were feeding her greyhound dry food (soaked) but they said I would have trouble getting it (don't know what it was) but they advised me to put her on Beta Greyhound. .
She was on this initially but it was very high in protein which I read wasn't good and it should be around 18% so I changed gradually to Wagg but she is very loose when she poo's and its very hard to clean up after her.
I was wondering if I should try a "sensitive" food. I have been giving the Wagg dry with some sardines occasionally or Butchers tinned food with it.
Can anyone suggest anything please ? or is it just trial and error

It is most of the time trial & error what suits one won;t suit another. It is worth trying a sensitive type food though, without wheat as that can be a culprit.
Burgess Supadog Senstive is very good (I use this) it has them pooing solids with 48 hours in my experience, another one to try is Fish4Dogs (www.fish4dogs.com).
I have tried a few different foods now but not had the solids that Supadog Sensitive produces. Burgess also do a greyhound & lurcher mixer, I haven't tried this as it has wheat in it so I think try the Sensitive first to see if it is wheat that's the problem. You can get small bags of the Burgess mixers or I think if you ask them they will send you a sample, that's probably the case with Fish4dogs also, they are both helpful if you contact them.

we tried quite a few different brands when we first got Blue. The one which works best for us is Wafcol Greyhound Maintenance. He has it morning and night, with just a tiny bit of water and nothing else added. He seems to love it!
Along the way we dried Dr Johns silver and loads of others too.
Good luck!

From what I've read on here it seems that some of the ones that firm them up can also cause too much pooing . We eventually hit on fish4dogs for Gracie and it suits her fine however with Maddie it made her firm but pooing every couple of hours and she was constantly scrounging for food. As she is a foster and I wanted to get her onto an easy to find food she is now on James Wellbeloved lamb and rice with a touch of fish4dogs which just adds a bit of firmness. I can't find anywhere local that sells Supadog and the postage for a small bag to try makes it expensive I long for an easy to feed dog, all 4 have to have different foods

Thanks for your advice - i'll have a look on a few websites i think for the foods mentioned. Its just really embarrassing and not pleasant to clear up, especially if you accidentally put your fingers in it like I did earlier today when she decided to have a poo right outside a seafront cafe - just hope no-one was eating their lunch !!!

The Burgess sensitive makes Lola poo more than her own body weight on each walk - it's quite unbelievable!
Don't go out for a walk with less than half a dozen poo bags!

I found the secret to Burgess Sensitive (and I have five here that eat it) is not to overfeed, because that leads to poo mountains, the excess just comes out! Once you get to the right amount for your hound, there's no problem!

Flash did mountainous poos on supadog sensitive, was fine on James Wellbeloved but we changed to the new Burgess Greyhound and Lurcher one and it didn't agree with him at all. He's now on Autarky 'autumn' and he is absolutely fine. I think as long as we avoid wheat and pork products he's always OK.

Once you get to the right amount for your hound, there's no problem! I agree, all 4 here are on it & they only do 1 big poo & sometimes a 2nd smaller poo on their walks. I do feed less than the recommended amount though & over 2 smaller meals rather than 1 large one & they have cooked mince added to compensate.

Mine were all on burgess sensitive for years but then suddenly started pooing every night in the house, no change in amounts of food. They now have CSJ and are all fine apart from Sasha who can't not poo in the night but thats just an old lady thing Sue

We're just using Wagg now, it's less than half the price and suits them both just fine. We used the Burgess for a while because of some major sloppy poo issues way back in the summer. It solved that problem, but it was likely a temporary issue anyway, maybe due to the upset of settling into a new home, routine etc.

Suggs has the Burgess Grey hound and Lurcher. As Tia came to us never having produced a firm poo in rescue we put her on the Supadog sensitive and she had firm poos within 2 days.We ran out a few days ago so she had the Greyhound and Lurcher and her poo is sloppy again plus she's scratching so I think its the wheat I'm going to put them both on the Supa dog sensitive again. I find it very good, plus I'm sure Tia is calmer on it.
