We have an old male greyhound who is slowly losing control of his back legs (can't stand for long but can still run down the garden!).
It has been suggested by another member of the forum to try a harness to help support him as he deteriorates. Does any-one have any experience of the Ruff Wear Harness or can suggest another type which would take his weight?
I would like to purchase one asap.
Thank you. Bev

Thank you for your quick reply Lisa. Could you recommend somewhere to purchase one from?

I'll bring Josh's over when i see you tomorrow and you can try it for size. I think its a medium. I got that one in Keswick but there is a shop in Shrewsbury that has them too if you don't want to order off the internet - Spike Tel. 01743 364455 at 20, Castle Gates Shewsbury SY1 2AD

Hi Bev, Canine Spirit are brilliant: www.canine-spirit.com/shop/detail.asp?prodid=137&prodbrandid=8Really fast delivery and so nice to deal with. Our two have a RuffWear harness each. The size medium is just right for greyhounds and they are fully adjustable for a perfect fit. They're wonderful and have an integrated handle on the top of the harness - you could literally carry your boy like a handbag if he ever needed that degree of support. I can't praise them highly enough. Good luck with your wobbly old lad Jo x

If Diane's doesn't fit, I have a large one you can borrow. I bought it for Gracie Baggage, but obviously I don't need it at the moment Edited - I think it's large size.

I had a Ruff Wear Harness for Cassie when her back legs started to let her down. It proved to be very useful, and easy for her to get on and off. I'm sure I opted for the medium size, designed to fit dogs with a chest measurement of 26-36''/66-91cm, www.canine-spirit.com/shop/detail.asp?prodid=137&prodsecid=8They are not cheap, but they are extremely well made and durable so should last and last, I hope. Roxy wears a medium, she's 26" if that helps. I have found them very useful, when Roxy got stuck up stairs before she had the confidence to do them herself, I carried/assisted her down the stairs with it (on more than one occasion ) and it was brilliant ;D

Thank you Lisa, Diane, Jo (elmuervo), lurcherlot, bluegreyhound, Jackie (ASBO Jackie) & Jo&Chris for your welcomed advice on the Ruff Wear Harness.
I am borrowing a medium size one off Diane to try on Bob. Thank you for the offer lurcherlot, I'll let you know how I get on (the offer is very much appreciated).
Also, thanks for the good wishes, he may be old and not good on his legs but we love him loads ;D (for a recent picture, see Bendy Nose in Dog Talk).
