My House the Toilet

Any advise would be more than welcome,
Roxy is using my house like a toilet. Since we moved to this house, Roxy has weed a few times in the house, which I was shocked about because until then she was spotless. It got worse when we fostered Sky, Lisa and I had a chat and put it down to her making her feeling felt about us having a girl in the house, bit annoying but fair enough.

Roxy is still weeing in the house... not every day by any means but, at least twice since Sky left, she has sneaked off and peed. I'm so frustrated by her, she has no reason to do this at all.

She knows its wrong because she never ever does it in front of me and never downstairs, its always either on the middle landing or one of the spare rooms, never on the top floor which is the room we sleep in.

I've never shouted at her for weeing in the house, I don't let her watch me cleaning up, I'm so gutted because Chris really enjoyed fostering Sky and asked me when we could go get the next one, but with madam doing this I just don't know what to do for the best.

We are moving in a few weeks and I can't afford to loose my deposit on this house because it stinks of piss.

I have pretty endless patience with my dogs but she is really pushing my buttons on this and I don't see any way to stop it...or why she is doing it.

Should I just stop her going upstairs altogether, it seems such a shame as she has only recently go the confidence up to do the full set of stairs and seems so much more settled for it and the ground floor gets freezing overnight because there is no carpet.

The funniest part is, and I'm not sure if this is connected, her behavior out of the house is now perfect. She walks past all and any dogs, even a lady with a ferret!

Sorry for the long post, I'm just so frustrated and if that is what she was hoping to achieve, why??

Do you know the history of the house Jo was there dogs in there before? There is every chance that there is already scents down that you need to get rid of. I would hire an industrial carpet cleaner and give ALL the carpets a clean with washing powder in hot water.

I also think as its so out of character for her that maybe now is the time to get a urine sampling done and also FULL blood panel incase there is an infection or something wrong.

When Sky was there we could put it down to bitchy behaviour but now she has moved on and its still happening I really think we need to have her checked out properly incase things are not quite right.

You are right, a dog did live in the house before, the carpets were cleaned before we moved in but I'll get them done again.

I'll also get her checked out at the vet. Thanks Lisa

Do you think it could have just turned into a bad habit now it's still happening without Sky? or could she be making sure it smells of her in case another dog comes in, or even just in preference to going out into the cold?
Maddie (foster) has been a demon to housetrain and she was using either the landing or bathroom, but not all the time, like Roxy. It seemed to be if she couldn't get her own way so we have been watching her like a hawk, not letting her upstairs without us and not giving her the opportunity and it seems to be working. Does she sleep with you? Can you stop her having unsupervised access to the areas she's using? I know it's a shame but it's really been the only way with madam here.

Frustratingly Maddie would tell you she needed to go out in the middle of the night then choose to wee on the landing without warning in the middle of the day when I was in I'm hoping we might have got on top of it.
Does it smell strong or look darker than normal? I can often tell they've got a water infection by the smell and colour, yes I'm a crazy lady who sniffs dog wee

I always clean it up with bio wash powder and wash it with the vax too so it certainly doesn't smell to us at least.

In the house I swear by Simple Solution (available from Pets at Home) for getting rid of lingering (to dogs anyway) smells!

mine do it. Molly was spotless too when I first had her, I think because i've had so many dogs who arnt housetrained come through, my dogs just think its allowed , so if its too cold or they have to wait they just use the floor

I steam clean regularly and also mop with various different products - it never stays smelly. If I had carpet I would have a problem.

Problem is Jo hasnt had any un housetrained dogs through She has only fostered Skye since living their and she was spotlessly clean.

Knowing Madame as I do I did think to begin with it could have been a protest even though it was only happening occasionally but now I dont. I think there is either an underlying problem OR there is a very strong bitch smell within the house that hasnt been gotten rid off and she is upset because she can smell the dog and not see it which is a totally natural reaction when the scent is on her terrotory she will naturally try to get rid of it as its confusing.

When Jo fostered the boys before in the old house it was never a problem.

When you first moved in Jo there is every chance as you havent been there long that Roxy didnt feel it was *her* home hence not starting to urinate straight away. Now you have been there longer and are settled the smell of another dog would pee her off big time.

As well as getting her vet checked the simplest solution would be to keep her downstairs until you move. She'd be warm enough on the sofa with a blanket, wouldn't she?
