Help, Bonnie (rescue poopie 18wks) has never had a solid poo from the moment that we got her. Originally we put it down to the stress of moving to a new environment and let her settle in. Still the same, so then we changed her food from Arden Grange to Royal Canin, still the same, then to Burns mini bites for poopies, still no change My Vet says that she has colitis which as far as I understand is an intolerance to a particular food. He said that otherwise, she was a picture of health and to continue with the Burns, but a week later still no change. She is a very happy little poopie, bouncy and in good condition otherwise. Does any one have any ideas what to try next? I've got a feeling that it may be chicken that she's having a problem with as it seems to be the common theme running through all of the foods that she's had. Has anyone any experience with this particular problem. It upsets me to see her with a dicky tummy.

If you think chicken might be the contributing factor then I'd try a food that doesn't contain chicken. What about trying James Wellbeloved they do a puppy lamb and rice and a puppy duck and rice, try one of these and see how Bonnie goes with that, if her bottom clears up the it would indicate that chicken is her problem.

I suppose that I've got nothing to lose as her tummy is already upset. I'll have a chat with my vet tomorrow and change her food again

What about fish4dogs? they do a puppy food and Lisa swears by it for dogs with sensitive tums. We tried lots for Gracie before that (adult) and it's worked a treat. When we got River he had colitis and I ended up feeding him on fish and potatoes for months on vets advice, I think that was before fish4dogs existed, but same idea I guess. www.fish4dogs.com/p/Dog_Food/PFC.htm

I'll have a chat with my vet tomorrow and change her food again The only way you're going to work out what is upsetting her tummy is to try to try an exclusion diet and give her one type of meat for a week or so at a time to see if that's it, if not it might be a wheat allergy.

I think that we kind of covered the wheat/gluten thing with the Arden Grange and the Burns as they are both meant to be free of that. I've bought some of the James Wellbeloved Lamb and Rice and I'll see how she goes on that. Poor little lamb doesn't get any treats at the moment as I thought it might be the rawhide chews etc. I have to sneak treats to the other two whilst Bonnies not looking. If this doesn't work then it will be onto the Fish 4 dogs next thanks for the link Vicky ;D

My previous grey couldn't tolerate chicken or turkey but was OK with duck. It took us a while to work out it was the chicken in the various foods which was the problem and once we cut it out completely even in treats, she was fine. Hope that proves to be the problem for yours too as it makes the solution so much easier.

My JRT had colitus, he was intolerant to fats and had to have foods that were below 5% fat or he'd be really poorly. He had tinned chappie till he got sick of it, and canine RD biscuits. Eventually we found he did best on simple food, rice, lean chicken, white fish, etc.
Colitus is inflamation in the bowel, and it's usually caused by rich foods and/or dairy products. I don't see why chicken would be a problem if it really is colitus your puppy has. Check the fats/oils % on the foods you've tried so far. If you aim for less then 5% oil you should be ablle to manage colitus and you'll never have a fat dog lol. My JRT reached 14 quite happily.

It's turned out that she was misdiagnosed by my vet ???and has in fact got some kind of bacterial infection (unknown yet as her poo sample hasn't come back ). She has been given antibiotics and now poos like a normal poopie
