Seems the bedlington terrorist in Bellas is starting to show its face A few times when shes been off the lead on a walk shes decided to nip the back of my knees/wellies and then do a huge circuit looking pleased with herself If you shout at her she just thinks its a big game and will do it again, but she is so fast you cant grab her when she does it in time to sit her down and say no The way i get her to stop it on a walk is to stand very still cross my arms and ignore her and she will loose interest very quickly but the old boy gardener at work has just said she has started doing it to him, and i know he reacts by flapping his arms about and shouting no.. which makes her think its a game. I seem to have solved the problem on walks with my technique, but has anyone got any ideas how to stop her doing this to other people and how i should ask them to react, i really want to get this 'nipped' before she gets in the habit of doing it, shes such a good girl otherwise ;D Ta Claire x

Our beddie x, Taz, does this to the other dogs when out on a walk, but I have to say that I do muzzle her when out, mainly so they don't all come back with grazes from 'lurchering' but also because having already killed a sheep we can't take the risk with her when out. So sorry, apart from muzzling, I have no ideas.

Would it be possible to use bitter tasting deterrant spray on the backs of his wellies?

I would use a muzzle because if anyone chose to get arsey about the "nipping" you could have the police at your door. And then find treats that you can feed through the muzzle if she is rewarded with them for recall etc.

;)Thanks some good ideas there It is just play, but i dont want it to escalate, she wont do it to strangers or other dogs and is very very gentle on greeting them, it just seems to be when shes having a mad puppy 5 mins with people she knows Ill try the chew spray, ive caught her a couple of times being mouthy with me just saying hi, and a touch of the nose a firm no and a gently do the trick she really hates being told off but i def will consider a muzzle for when shes rampaging at work where i cant keep an eye on her.. just to put her off.
