Fireworks, squirrels, bin men, all have spooked Matt within the past two weeks, my arms are all out of their sockets, and he has slipped his collar twice, my heart twiddled about a bit, any good advice on harnesses please. Many thanks Chris xxx

The only advice i can give is if you do use a harness, (which i did with Zeb) then get a halti link and link it to his collar, just encase he tries to get out of it. Just for a bit of added security.

I found that Blue was a lot better with a harness (he's spooked really easily!) but they aren't fool-proof. Twice now he's managed to get out of one. Once when he was lying down at an event that we were helping at but fortunately he just hopped into the van for a rest. The secong time we were walking past a steam organ that I thought had stopped.... it hadn't! It started up just as we were passing and I ended up with a harness and a collar in my hand but no Blue! Again I was most fortunate as he raced off and jumped straight in to the back of a car that had it's boot open! So, although I feel slightly more secure with him in a harness if he's scared enough he can obviously still get out of it!

I can testify that even houdini cannot get out of the Ruffwear harnesses as he is alive and well and living at my house If you are using a collar and he is slipping use a leather one and make sure its fitted properly. If you drag it up and over it should stop behind the ear bones and it should be impossible to get over.

I can recommend the Eurohike harnesses, very similar to the ruffwear ones. Delta spins and tries to escape and its never moved. I also have a link to her collar too which is a leather one.

I can whole heartedly recommend the ruff wear harness, its completely changed our walks... they are not cheap but by goodness they are worth it.

Seconded. Although it's not good dog training technique, the handle on the Ruffwear harness is jolly useful for hoisting his orangeness off his feet and out of the road when he's temporarily forgotten what his legs are for.
