Anyone know any really scrummy homemade treat recipes for dogs with kidney failure? I'm baking Christmas treats for the long termers at the kennels. But oneof the hounds has chronic kidney failure so obviously can't have the usual liver cake etc Any experiences? Any ideas? A google came up with only the most unappetising recipe imagineable (vegetables, flour and a bit of chicken stock).

sorry its all in cups - let me know if you need conversions and I will type them in. I use cups now when baking as its so much quicker. THey may look unappetising to us: but my guys chomp them down.
These are low protein.

Thank you, kris! I think I need to go shopping for some molasses! Cups are just fine - I have a measure jug with those units on. Think I'd better trial run a few of these recipes on her before Christmas to be sure I find the one that hits the sweet spot.
We had a cat that had renal failure for a year or so before we finally let her go (at nearly 20). I felt terrible feeding her low protein diet because she was always such a carnivore and clearly hated it (and declined to eat it most of the time). In the end I gave up and resumed her regular diet of pure white fish, chicken and fois gras(!). It may have shortened her life for a month or so but I'm sure she was much happier that way.
