Does anyone happen to have a door that is in good condition for a large crate that they do not want? Bungle has all but destroyed the door to his crate trying to chew the closures off in his attempt to get out.
I know this is a strange request but I thought maybe someone may have an old crate which had a decent door. A long shot I know but thanks for reading.

Sharon the problem is wood isn't enough of a challenge to him these days and he happily tries to chew his way through the dog gate so the crate was just a warm up for him

Hmm it sounds like bungle needs his door coating in something, have a go with lemon juice, or vinagar when you get either a new door or crate. Also have you treid leaving him with some sort of foodie puzzle toy to distract him, ie a stuffed kong.

If he dislikes his crate so much, isn't it possible to train him to be out of it? Maybe muzzled and/or baby-gated into a suitable area but I would think if he is so determined to get out he could do himself a serious injury trying.

Thanks for your replies. I will get some bitter apple from the vet to coat things in like the crate and the dog gate.
He loves pigs ears but he has ignored them in favour of trying to remove the fastener from the door to the crate. He ignores a kong after 5 minutes.
He doesn't dislike the crate and sleeps in it of his own accord during the day and spends time in there having time out with the door closed with no issues.
We have tried him out of the crate and he just moves on to attempting to chew the dog gate to pieces. He has even looked at the possibility of standing on the arm of the sofa as if he were planning to leap over the gate.
He has some issues which I am working on with Lisa's support and this includes using the crate for his own safety and also to reinforce what we are trying to do.

Just to say he isnt being left in the crate un supervised. ;D Bungle is basically being a stroppy git when he cant get his own way which could be mis interpretated as seperation anxiety apart from the fact that at night he is quite happy to spend 8hrs downstairs alone with no one around Hows he been today Karen?

He howled this morning when Mick left but I told him to be quiet and lie down and he did and was quiet apart from a few whimpers until Mick came back.
Later me and Mick went out and Lauren had put him in the crate with muzzle on and left him on his own ( both girls checking every few minutes that he was quiet and they could not hear him chewing or bashing). He was laid down and content right until we returned.
He is being ignored by anyone who has been out and if he is in his crate left there for a minimum of 10 minutes and if he has stayed quiet we let him out.
edited to add : he has been trying to follow Mick round all evening so I got him to shut Bungle in his crate where he is now peaceful taking time out.
