Hiya, just wanted to ask a question but im not sure if a stupid thing to say or not but Im going to ask anyway!!!! I always thought that you shouldnt give a dog chicken bones so I never have but Im sure I read somewhere that you can. If so do you have to do something with them and what is it that you do? Hope this doesnt seem too daft Alex xxx

Lots of people feed them raw but cooked chicken bones are a real no no. I personally don't like the thoughts of feeding raw chicken but thats just me being brought up to make sure its always cooked well I wish I could feed raw as I do think its good for cleaning their teeth. I "think" the meat should always be frozen first to kill certain bacteria before defrosting it to feed. I'm sure some raw feeder will be along soon to correct me if I'm wrong (which I often am ) Sue

I'm not a raw feeder, I give raw meaty bones a few times a week but from what I gather you are OK to give raw non weight bearing chicken bones ie wings, neck.
Beef should be frozen before feeding raw because it kills a parasite whose name escapes me, I think all other meat is OK?

I feed raw chicken wings as a treat, all the dogs go nuts for them. Josh doesn't chew his though he swallows them whole , so first i bash the bones with a rolling pin to break them up a bit. I also give them raw lamb breast bones and turkey necks but not so often and just as a treat and for their teeth. They are fed a dried complete diet. The first time i gave Jack a raw chicken wing he was scared of it then he rolled on it
