Hi,
Took Krissi to vet this morning, re weight loss etc....
She has also been suffering with shaking back legs for a month or so, and has not been enjoying her outings to the woods for a while.
The vet asked if she had increased her drinking/weeing, and the colour of her stools, but all of those things are normal.
He examined her back, and told me she was in pain, and probably has arthritis, hence the loss of appetite, etc.....he took bloods, and she screamed the place down!, prescribed some tablets ' Previcox', and told me he would call this eve for the results of the blood test.
After an hour of giving her the tablet, she seems so much brighter....hopefully the test results will be clear of anything else. Any tips re arthritic greys would be appreciated!!
Janina xx

Sorry to hear that Krissi hasn't been well, hopefully the Previcox will keep the pain at bay. Ellie & Dan have arthritis, Ellie in her front leg as she has had some kind of crush injury & Dan has a bad back probably because he is so long bodied. I use or have tried the following & use Metacam (which is another type of NSAID) as pain relief if they are very bad: - A joint supplement, I use Joint Aid for Dan & Ellie Joint Aid Link
- Magnetic collar, something like Bioflow
- Acupuncture, if you can find a vet that practices

You could start her on some flexi-joints or something similar, or fish oil These suppliments are all supposed to help with joint problems and mobility. The only other thing I would suggest, and particularly with this change in the weather, is to try and make sure she doesn't get too wet or cold. I would be inclined to put a coat on her if there is any chance of rain, or if it's cold out, and maybe, as the nights get colder, think about some 'jim-jams' for her to wear overnight. I didn't think about this option for a while, but then realised that whilst I was snuggling down under the duvet the hounds were not and might be feeling a little chilled. I hope the tablets continue to do the trick, and she is soon running around okay. Jackie x

Thankyou Wanda, Just checked out site, very informative. I have always included fish in all of my dogs diet, b ut i suppose my Krissi needs a little extra help if she has developed arthritis.
Ths collar sounds interesting, and of course accupunture is a sure way of reliveing pain. xx

Thankyou Jackie,
I can't believe my baby Krissi is now an oldie!! I think the tabs will help, i will certainly keep her wrapped up if it's cold and damp, and will try fish oils etc.....
Thanks for your advice and caring! xxx

Vet just called, all bloods are fine, with no probs with her organs,no diabetes, and she's just finished her pasta and fish dinner!! Those tablets are great, but i may invest in a Bioflow collar for her.....they look as though they might do the trick!! xxxx
