Hi
Krissi is now nine, she has slowed down over the last few months, she still wants to come on her walks, but after the first 20 mins of sniffing, pooing and peeing, she's happiest just staying by my side, stopping sometimes to smell smells. I adopted my mums 5kilo jack russell cross chihuahua, and he and Louie (40 kilo big blue baby grey) love running about, hunting and stuff. She was also Alpha bitch, but has given up her throne to 'Harry', who bosses louie constantly! She was always a lean girl, never really going above her racing weight of 26kilos, but her appetite, which has never been great, has depleted, and she has dropped to 23kilos, and is now showing a liitle too much rib and pin bone. I am worried....i have tried her with all kinds of food, some of which she eats with relish, other times ignores it. Should i get her checked? Is this an age thing? Is she classed as 'Senior?' I usually feed raw, fish, pasta, Wagg, veg...........have i got anything to worry about??

Bless her ;D , I suppose she would be classed as coming into her senior years .I think, as you've tried tempting her with other things and the weight is still coming off ,then,if she was mine I would get her checked at the vets. It could be that she has an over active thyroid that needs medication , but 3 kilos is a lot too loose and especially as she was pretty lean before,so,to put your mind at rest too, i would take her.

I'd take her for an MOT and have her bloods done to see if they throw anything up.
