As Paco has become more used to us, and living a non-racing life, he has become a lot more interested in everything when we are walking - particularly squirells. He has started to really lunge at them and although I can control him, he is rather heavy - 33kg. I don't want to hurt his neck trying to restrain him so would you advice a harness? If so, which is the best? Any advice would be appreciated.

These fleece lined harnesses are great greyhoundgap.proboards35.com/index.cgi?board=2222&action=display&thread=33486Harnesses are useful but bear in mind that with a harness you will have less control over his head, so if he is lunging you need to either make sure that you are leaving a greater distance between him & the object of desire or use a double ended training lead to attach one end to his collar & the other to the harness.

I've bought two of these harnesses recently and they are really good, it seems to calm the dogs and they pull less - although I agree you have to be careful if they do lunge at something. Also, so far, they don't rub like others I have tried. I would be interested to know where you get a double-ended lead from though...

I would be interested to know where you get a double-ended lead from though... Halti do one like this www.amazon.co.uk/Company-Of-Animals-Halti-Training/dp/B0013K603C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=garden&qid=1222181653&sr=8-1You can get them from most pet shops, they are also good because you can adjust them to different lengths so if you are in safe area & want to give a bit more freedom you can let it out. I have 2 dogs that go off lead & 1 that doesn't so I tend to let the girls off lead & use their training leads to make a long line for Dan who can't be trusted not to disappear off over the horizon ;D
