Hi, We're thinking of feeding our 6 year old Greyhound Wainwrights Adult Complete Turkey and Rice (23% protein, 8% moisture, 10% oils and fats, 4.5% fibre), does anyone have any thoughts/experience of this? thanks, Caroline

Before we had Barney the greyhound we tried Wainwrights with our collie x whippet Ellie. Although she really loved it, it seemed to send her even more hyper than normal and then she had a few constipation episodes, so I'm not sure if the fibre content was sufficient for her needs. We plumped for James Wellbeloved in the end, which we've found to be brilliant for both of them.
I've heard a few poeple report the hyper behaviour problem with Wainwrights. That said, if you research any brand of food deeply enough there are always grumbles to be found, aren't there? The silent majority is hardly ever heard!
I'd give it a try if I were you - yours might thrive on it!

All my dogs - pointy and non pointy are on Wainwrights. I have adult and senior. They all love it, haven't noticed any change in behaviour and has sorted out Biggles sloppy poo problem.
Dolly who refused to eat any food I put in front of her before, loves it and I get clean bowls every time ;D

My 3 have been on this for a few months and they have been fine. It's one of the foods which suits them all, no tummy problems or wind and certainly no hyperactive behaviour-just the same lazy lot. Their coats are shiny and they hold their weight steady on it.

Thanks for your replies. We're bringing him home in 2 weeks from the rescue and were advised that we can slowly introduce his new food to him whilst he's in kennels which is a big help. Like all new parents we just want to get it right but I suppose it's trial and error!

My 3 have been on this for about 12 months. One of mine has serious food allergies and the fishy one (salmon and something) helps alot with this. One word of advice, if it goes down well DON'T change the flavour. If yours are anything like Dilly it'll turn your front room into a rerun of hurricane Ike Kate

To be honest so often it is trial and error - my oldies (Scout, Otis and Matilda now - since her cancer diagnosis she has come off the kidney support food because she didn't really like it, so she can eat whatever she likes) are on 18% protein with Burgess Supadog Sensitive Lamb and Rice, the youngsters have a mix of Burgess and 22% protein (Skinners Duck and Rice) but I am anti-chicken and turkey in dog food because of battery farming and try and avoid all artificial colouring/preservatives and BHT and BHA for carcinogenic reasons. I'd love to feed my five on more expensive organic food, but with five of them, plus the Naturediet/sardines/goodies/etc I still get through 30 kilos every two and a half/three weeks and anyone who has seen them can confirm my dogs aren't exactly fat!

I tried mine on Wainwrights and they loved it. The only thing I found was that it made them very windy. I have now used Jolleys 'Lifestages' Senior and Adult for over a year and everyone is doing fine.
