Many vets still dont realise that that blood values are different for greyhounds and this can often lead to a mis diagnosis. Greyhounds actually have a lower white cell count and a higher red cell count than normal dogs and this higher amount of red cells is what makes them such fabulous donors. It stands to sense that many lurchers may suffer with the same genetic make up. So for anyone needing too have to hand the true greyhound blood work results to hand now or in the future I thought this might be worthwhile. I know so many vets say its hard to get a true answer from alot of labs aswell as to what is normal for greyhounds and indeed with Rodney the lab kept insisting things were right and I knew they werent and had to fight for them to listen. Here is a link that explains it which is worth bookmarking just incase greythealth.com/blood.htm
