My grey Seamus has the last two - three days started to lick his legs a lot( usually in the evenings and first thing in the morning). Do you think this is a diet thing or an allergy? He isnt doing lots of stratching but did 'nibble' a small sore patch just above the base of his tail. The sore patch I am addressing, but what can I do about the licking.? I havent changed his food or washing powder for his bedding ( which gets changed twice a week). Oh and hes started 'snaffling ' out of the bin (which is a new habit!) Annette

Could be an allergy of some sort, could be that his anal glands are full?

One of my old dogs did that, and it was his anal glands.

The sore patch isnt actually near his anus its on his back at 'the tail end'. He doesnt have smelly anal glands and isnt 'bottom shuffling' or licking his anus. Im more concerned about the licking of his legs? Annette

After lengthy discussions with my husband we seem to have pin pointed the times when seamus licks! Usually its first thing in the morning when we all get up - Seamus is very pleased and excited to see us. The other time is when its time for bed - in the evening he starts again!! I think maybe its a stressed out thing!! ( He is a rather highly strung grey anyways!)Plus the fact having the kids about for school holidays there is more noise and he likes to be quiet! Oh dear now I feel like a failure greyhound mummy! Annette
