The biggest estate car for square footage is the Mondeo estate. That was the one Chris and I were looking at. We currently have a Renault Scenic (old shape) and that is excellent for size and space. The one thing I prefer about them against estate cars is that even if the Greyhound stands up, you can still see out of your rear view mirror, as you have much more headroom.

OH has Octavia VRS Estate & fits the 2P's in no problem & thats with the seats UP. They can get down & we travel like that when we go on hols (Wales in the past & Norfolk this year). I have Masda Demio, seats permently down, plenty of room, have had 3 in still very roomy.
When I do change my car I want a Berlingo, anybody have one & what they like.
Pat & the 2P's

What do people do to keep dogs in the back if they fold the rear seats down? I'm sure ours would try to help with the driving. Our back seats are more or less permanently down, we use a Saunders dog guard which you can move wherever you need it, when we're going to France and need space for a little bit of lugguage we have the back seats down and set the guard so it lines up with the middle of the back doors, enough room for stuff between the back of the front seats and the dog guard, dogs have the rest of the space. www.vcsaunders.co.uk/DogGuards.htmlRobust but manouverable. I'd also highly recommend a tailgate guard which we bought from www.barjo.co.uk , it means that the dogs can't jump out the back of the car the minute you lift the tailgate.

Our Honda Accord Estate has tons of boot space. It would fit 2 greys easily. If I had my way, it would fit 3

XC70 here. We can get Neva and Paddy in the boot but with Drum we put the back seats down (He's a grumpy s*d about his personal space). With the seats down I have have 5 greyhounds in the car and still room for a bit of paraphinalia

OK, how about estate cars with large boot space with four wheel drive?
Went to a show near Penrith last weekend - nearly all the horseboxes and most of the trailers and some of the cars had to be towed out. Our Skoda made it out, but only because we managed to drive on the less muddy bits!

Our Skoda made it out, but only because we managed to drive on the less muddy bits! Well, I've had two adults, four lurchers, a greyhound and a collie in my Discovery with the back seats down to travel to Somerset (I have a crate that sits where the back seats are which can take three - one large and two small, and I can get Otis, Matilda, Scout and Theo in the boot for short journeys) but that's about the limit! It's a shame they won't sit upright, instead of insisting on lying down, since I have seven full sized seats for humans

I have a Vauxhall Meriva & have the back seats folded flat & use a cargo net behind the front seats to stop anyone getting into the front. I can get 3 hounds in the back comfortably & when I have 4 here I have Ellie in the front passenger seat harnessed up on a leopard fleece cushion so she can observe her public in comfort whilst on the move ;D

We have 2 greyhounds, 2 kids, bags of stuff, wellies etc in our Skoda fabia estate. The girl greyhound Alexa loves to stand all the way but the boy Becks likes to lie down grumbling when she stands on a sensitive bit or sits on his head.
