I was all excited recently because I finally managed to find a house/dog sitter who would look after my lot whilst we are away . We are going away in June so the man has been twice so he can meet them and walk them, get to know their routine. Flash and Peggy were quite happy with him and showed no signs of any problems, but Roo Roo bless him, (who is nervous at the best of times ) was beside himself with fear. I really want this to work because I used to have a lady who looked after Flash and Peggy in her own home which was fantastic, but she inconsiderately moved to Cornwall . And the last time Flash was in a kennel, which was only for one week, he didn't eat, came back 3 kgs lighter, and was so pleased to see me he knocked me over with joy (very unusual for Flash as he is so laid back he barely lifts his head off the sofa when I come in ). And I really don't like the idea of putting them back in kennels . He's going to come back again next week and if that fails I suppose I will just have to book them into kennels Any suggestions on how I might handle it would be appreciated? Thank you Mary

Yes tell the bloke to ignore Roo go away on your holiday and leave them too it. Roo gets over things much quicker if he HAS to deal with it. Infact when he comes to visit next week ask him to come for a day and take yourself out of the equation. If Roo choses to hibernate he can put a leash on him take him out to the toilet bring him back in and go off on one again. If Roo thinks that you are going to pamper to his whims he milks it for what its worth. Welcome to Roo's world ive seen him try to pull it so many times I know him too well.

Thanks Lisa. I suppose I have to toughen up to get him to He will be fine he has a ridiculous coping mechanism when thrown in at the deep end, in fact one of the best ive seen. Its when there are people around him familiar to him that he acts like a wet plank bless him because he feels safe enough to show his insecurities
