Hiya, just after a bit advice as Sophie who is virtually a year old is now digging her heels in and refusing to go out last thing at night. When I try to encourage her up I get faced with a slavering alien face ,which, looks like she means it ,plus when she lies in front of a door that we have to move her from ,the special effects are exactly the same. No doubt it is the start of the teens ,but wondered what is the best way of dealing with it ,any advice will be gratefully recieved, cheers. I must admit, she has always been a strong willed little madam . Carol xxx

I would very confidently put a lead on her & use the voice of God to move, no messing if she being a madam.
If she is being a brat then a bit of NILF works wonders.

Wanda is right, use a lead to get her out and voice of God or Doom! Sounds as though she's being a brat and this behaviour needs to be stamped on pdq. The link for NILIF is k9deb.com/nilif.htm It seems you need to remind her who is actually in charge here otherwise you could be storing up problems for the future.

We have this regularly with Sasha, although she is 12 years old She does look frightening and bares her teeth and snarls at me but I pretend I am not scared, grab her collar and frogmarch her across the room with a very firm voice telling her to shut it and go for a wee! If she is really bad then its the lead, she snarls like hell as I pull her but I won't be beaten by a grumpy old bat like her Sue

Well it looks like a lead it is then so I will hold back from saying put your foot up her bum Personally I would be leaving a long leash on her all the time when you are around to supervise to avoid getting into a confrontational situation with her when she is having a bit of a flash off. That way you havent got to grab at collars etc which may result in her taking it further. Grab the leash and then give her the command. ONLY give the command at this age its very important not to get into verbal onslaught and engage in a battle of wits. Much like human teenagers really. Other than that tell her Auntie Lisa will come and put her foot up her bum
