Hi all. As Meg has destroyed not one but two of Selwyn's muzzles (I think he pays her as he hates putting them on) I need to get him a new one. I thought I'd get him a padded one in the hope he won't hate it quite as much. I've looked at the ones on Jan's gifts and they say that the dog won't be able to drink while wearing one - which sounds a pain when out for a longer walk. Just wondered if folks could let me know if/where they bought a comfy padded muzzle (preferably made of reinforced steel so meg can't eat it ) Thanks

I use the KS07 one from Jans Gifts, the plastic racing muzzle, as they don't get sweaty inside like the closed at the bottom muzzles. They can drink with both types of muzzle in my experience, Ellie & Pixie just dip the end of the muzzle in water which allows it in to drink.

I use the 'KS2PAD' from Jan's as they have the leather padded bit on the top of the nose. Although Jan states that the dogs can't drink with the muzzle in situ, I've certainly seen dogs manage very well. Not only drinking, but some can even manage treats posted through the slots. If you think a wire muzzle would be more durable they do those as well, although I don't think they would prove any more durable, and unless you opt for the plastic coated ones I think could be a bit dangerous as it says they are made from piano wire. I've just found this but I'm not sure how suitable it would be for a greyhound, although it is recommended for afghans so maybe, who knows. Jackie x

Sharon, Sonny and Sapphy wear the plastic padded ones from Jan's gifts and both can take treats and drink with them on no problems ;D

Thanks guys. I think I'll give the padded one from Jan's a go then. If anyone can sneak treats, drinks and the occasional stolen sandwich through the eye of a needle, I think it would be Sellie He usually has the ones Wanda mentions from Jan's but he absolutely hates them - probably won't like the padded one either but I'll give it a try. I will also keep it out of reach of The Destroyer. To thank you for your advice, here are a couple of shots of The Destroyer herself. Butter wouldn't melt... oh no...
