Hello All - I am hoping someone here can give me a couple of pointers.
Charlie recently contracted mange from the boarding kennels that we use javascript:add(%22%20:P%22)( or at least that's what we deduce happened ) on his haunches and thighs. We went immediately to the vets, where were were given a steroid injection for the itching, oral antibotics for the skin infection and Advocate for the mange itself. We used one tube that day, with instructions for another tube in 2 weeks time. We also treated our other grey, Bella, as a precaution. ( She has not shown any symptoms) Charlie is now bald with flaky skin in the patches where the mange flared up.
A week later, and the steroid has warn off, and now Charlie has starting nibbling on these balding patches. Does anyone have any ideas to soothe the skin to keep him from licking and nibbling which will only result in him inflaming the skin and making it worse? Additionally, are there any treatments that I might want to try to encourage his coat to grow back? I read on another thread that it took someone 4 months for even tiny bits of fur to grow back.
Any advise, hints or tips would be welcome!
-Morgan

If its contracted mange then it will be sarcoptic not demodectic and I think stronghold is better for treating speak to your vets again. Also ask for a malaseb shampoo and bath him twice a week.
