MESSAGE FROM JIM......
Dog Training
Judging by the enquires I have received since November many people and their dogs seem to be suffering with problems of defensive aggression, basic obedience and control when off the lead. These problems seem to be greatly upsetting for most, and spoil everyone's' enjoyment of their dog.
There is a need for someone with an understanding of both sides of the tracks when it comes to Lurchers.
Many of the dogs that have been rehomed via Greyhound Gap/Lurcher Link and other rescue charities have had some sort of working experience, so when it comes to solving some of their problems, a knowledge of that work is invaluable. Most are unsocialised and, in the case of many a rescued greyhound, have no training what so ever other than to walk on the lead and chase a moving object.
With this in mind, I have structured two new courses which may be of interest:
The first is a basic obedience course which consists of up to three classes held every three weeks. The lessons will be backed up with written exercises for you to work on between classes and with full e-mail /phone support. The price would be £25 per class (average class two hours long). This can be done in the regions if up take from a region is strong enough (Class size max of 6 dogs.)
This course (Foundation) can also be done over the internet with clear instructions on what to do and how to do it. Obviously full e-mail support is given, with answers to your questions in 24 hours or less. This once more will be £25 per unit. How many units you require will be your choice, just let us know when you are ready to fly solo.
The second is a socialisation course - this is one for the defensive aggressive and newly adopted dogs. This is very much a hands on course, but with full e-mail/phone support. The price would be per session as some will need more work than others. Each session will be £25 for the two hours,( max six dogs per session).
The original courses will continue.
For anyone who would like a home visit, the charges will be £25 per visit +8 pence/mile over 20 miles from home base. For anyone over 60 miles, £35 per visit with additional £10 for visits over hour and a half. If I am able to arrange more than one visit in an area for those over 60 miles the cost will be £25.
The foundation Course and socialisation course bookings will be taken from the date of this post and will begin from the 3rd of February please indicate if you would like weekend or midweek class.
He's going to donate 10% of any work which comes via Greyhound Gap back to us aswell cos thats the sort of bloke he is (thanks Jim)
If anyone would like to know more please email Jim on : dogman2@btinternet.com or ring him on 07896 025435.
