Does anybody else have a hound that won't play? Millie is absolutely DESPERATE to play with Dennis, and as soon as they get offlead together (or even in the garden) she will run, play bow, bite his ears & bark at him to try to get some response. She is not rough with him, but she is quite boisterous, and instead of him playing back, he will either ignore her completely or just come and hide behind my legs and not respond. Its not that he is scared, he is just not interested! This isn't too much of a problem, but it makes me a little bit sad to see him happily playing by himself (with his squeaky toys) and then as soon as Millie shows up, him stopping and looking uncomfortable. I was just wondering if there was anything i could do to encourage play? I already play with them both together (he will happily play with me) and then encourage them to carry on without me, but as soon as i move away he refuses to play with her! They get on so well in every other way, so it would be lovely to see them playing together, and i think it would make Millie's year! Thanks Clare xx ** i have some videos on my phone of this happening, so will try to upload when i get home from work!**

Dennis sounds like my Dan he won't play with the girls because he is scared they will hurt him. They play barky rarr rarring games whilst he prefers sedate throw toys in the air games. He plays on his own & with me but not with the nasty girls Maybe in time Dennis will learn to trust Millie & let his hair down but it may just be one of those things, you may just have to get another hound to play with Millie ;D

Ah Dan sounds exactly like Dennis, he really is such a wuss! Its really not too much of a problem, It would just be nice for Millie to have some one to burn her energy off with. Oh well, looks like i will be doing lots of running round my local park with her instead. Thanks for the advice, Clare x

Molly wouldn't play with Suggs for weeks, he persisted until she gave in very ungracefully lots of raring and barking and 10 seconds was the limit. Now she instigates games and is much more patient.I find if I go inside and watch without them knowing they play much better together ;D
