I'm hoping I'm in the right area of the board. Can anyone offer me advice for poor Lenny, who has completely ripped his dew claw off today. I need to bandage it up as he'll just keep licking it; but I'm worried about it getting infected. Is there anything I can put on it, that isn't harmful to dogs ie Savlon cream or something? Just to tide me over until I can get to the vets on Monday. I'm worried sick about my poor tripod. Thanks, Alex xx

Hi Alex Baloo and Ebony done the same earlier on in the year.Baloo was just left to heal on its own because the quick was not damaged and the nail grew back.Ebony had to go to the vets as she had to have the quick cautorised as it was bleeding,if the quick is not damaged and there is a bit of nail left it will grow back.If the quick is exposed and bleeding you need to take him to the vets..Good luck.Fran,Jan,Baloo and Ebony.

Don't think you can use savlon cream on dogs. You could try just cooled boiled salt water.
