After the loss of Blue due to this i can't help thinking if there was anything that we could have done to prevent this eg: diet.
All sorts of things have gone through my head the last few days.

We did the same with Kyra and her liver tumour. It's only natural to think that there may have been something you missed or something you did/didn't do that would have made a difference. Diet or medication...some herbal treatments. The fact is that Kidney failure is not a thing you can know about and prevent. You can't see anything like a lump or such. Try not to think of what you could have done it's no good beating yourself up over these things. You did your best for Blue and gave him a wonderful life and the best of care. All the things you are thinking are normal and natural when you are in grief and it will pass in time. Thinking of you all Sue xx

I lost my heart dog, Polly Whippet, with kidney failure and I beat myself up too. When it finally happens it's fairly quick for the dog, but too quick for us. As Lisa says, it's a natural progression in some old dogs and you know in your heart, even if you can't remember it right now, that you did everything for Blue to give him a good life
