As you know both mimi and May have had some quite bad accidents and now have some lovely scars and big bald patches, does anyone have any advice on what to give/put on for hair growth and scaring?

Personally I wouldnt worry about them, they all add to the character of them ;D The hair will either grow back or it won't! Simple as that ;D

if the scars are tight like Laras was on her leg you can use creams that are for humans such as bio-oil etc to soften them but if they are ok just leave them, scar tissue wont grow new hair so no need to worry there. anna.x.

When she first came here, I sprayed Quistel (expensive coat improver and hair restorer - google it!) on Jazz's war wounds and on the hairless end of her tail (too much wagging in confined spaces). I was a bit intermittent in using it but to be honest I never saw any direct improvement. If you think about it, if someone had invented a follicle reviver that really worked, wouldn't middle-aged men with shiney spots in the hair be beating a path to their door. With a year of good diet and carefully regulated wagging, Jazz's bald patches are much less visible and her tail is only slightly forked now. Don't worry, you will grow to love those scars as part of your shared history. PS for human post-operative scars, Vit E is often recommended as a way of expediting healing. My OH used it on a horrific set of knee surgery scars a few years back. I don't know whether there was a direct effect but certainly the scars have shrunk over the years from huge and bulbous looking to flat and almost invisible (or perhaps my eyesight has just become rubbish!)

I`m not convinced that hair can be encouraged to grow, but aloe vera gel has cropped up in many conversations....

Vaseline rubbed in is supposed to encourage hair growth. It's what a lot of show-dog people use to sort out any scars or bald patches.
