The horror stories do not stop. I'm so frustrated... we help as many dogs as we can, all the shelters do what they can and still - the things get worse not better.
No TV spots against abdandoning but we get brainwashed daily to accept immigrants (not that I mind, I'm also one in Spain), or TV sposts to be carefull with fire in the forrests and fields, and all payed by the governement but NOTHING FOR THE DOGS; NADA!!!! On the contrary, small shelters get closed in the Alicante area to make room for a huge kiliing station, shelters like Salamaca have to wait for over 10 month to get the subventions from the governement etc.
The animal welfare laws are there and could help us against people who chain their dogs life long or against hunters who use and abuse their dogs but their is no f.... judge who want's to be bothered by such things and many police stations refuse to take a report about animal mistreatment and no court casees to give all those who mistreat animals a huge fine ...
... and it seems there is no light at the end of the tunnel for the hounds in Spain.
And on top of it are international rescue groups fighting for "horror cases" to have something to show around and to go to the press. It got even so far that certain rescue organisations tried to pressure a shelter to hand over a dog that caused a lot of attention with the message : DONT FORGET WE HELPED YOU ALOT!!
Sometimes I get tired, it's as if you could never win.

Don't lose heart you are doing such a good job. And are an inspiration to me. I know it must be so disheatening when you just get more and more hounds needing your help but just look at the fantastic work you have already done. I for one am in awe of the amount of good you do. xx
