On the 14th March two smooth Salukis were stolen from a car at Mortimer Reading Berks. Their owner was attending a lure race meet when travellers showed interest in her dogs, minutes later her car was broken into and the dogs taken. Details of the Salukis can be found on Doglost.co.uk The latest news is, a saluki sounding very like the nine year old has been left on the downs by travellers at Wantage Oxon, this dog was seen on March the 20th. Anyone living in the area please keep your eyes peeled, also think about running some of the posters off Doglost and putting them up in the area. Many thanks AnnB

We now know the possible sighting of the nine year old with a withered shoulder took place last weekend up on the Ridgeway, nr Wantage. People are putting out posters and the dogwardens in the area have been notified. A photo has been put on www.doglost.co.ukshowing both dogs with their ears turned back, I believe they do drop them down, both dogs are tattooed but one is quite faint. AnnB

Nettie Sadly the person who told police of the dogs whereabouts failed to mention an exact location, he could be either side of Wantage. Just spoken to owner and she is just waiting for a sighting and will be off down there. Trying to locate a microlite club that I know is down that way somewhere, maybe they can keep a lookout. AnnB

Good news, the seven year old has been found. He was recovered from a site in High wycome after much publicity. Owner on her way to collect him. A dead hound was seen a a road near Wantage, we think and hope it was not the older Saluki. Trying to locate the body. Any animals found dead are picked up by a road cleaning company who appear to take no notes on any dogs they dispose of. I think it is disgusting that these animals are not checked over for tattooing or microchipping. AnnB

I know that Wandsworth Council keep a record of dogs and cats picked up off the road. Have you checked with the local council?
I do hope it wasn't him and that he's home very soon.

The body of the dog killed near Wantage has just been found!! it had been put into a ditch, it is not the Saluki. With no ID the poor thing has just been disposed of, how sad. There is talk the Saluki could be in the Aylesbury area or near to where they were stolen from, Mortimer nr Reading. With so many people on the look out and a fair amount of police interest I hope we get some good news soon. There is a new picture of the dog on www. Doglost. co. uk AnnB
