This is Lily, adopted from Greenfields Greyhound Rescue, Stoke via Halfway There Hounds in Ireland. Lily was abandoned at the pound in Ireland and was about to be put to sleep when the amazing people at Halfway there Hounds stepped in and saved her. She had been ill- treated and abused and was terrified of everybody and everything but after lots of patience and gentle care she was eventually sent to England to look for her forever home and i'm so pleased to say she found it with us. She is the most adorable little girl and is growing in confidence every day. PAID

This is Ernie. Ernie was rescued by Greenfields Greyhound Rescue, Stoke when he was a puppy after he'd been discovered locked in a shed and abandoned. He was very underweight and had worn his teeth down from chewing at the door to either try and escape or to survive by eating the wood. We adopted him when he was 18 months old and as you'd expect he completely lacked any socialisation skills and despite his bad start to life he was a just an overgrown and over exuberant puppy. He was so happy to be living in a family and to be loved and used to get wildly over excited in the early days, jumping up and scratching at our legs as soon as he saw us but he slowly began to settle down and realised that he was here to stay and nobody was ever going to leave him behind again. Despite being dumped and whatever else happened to him in his early days he absolutely loves people and has unwavering trust in everyone he meets which is so nice to see when he could have turned out very differently. We adopted him in 2007 along with his kennel mate, Mou-Mou who we sadly lost to bone cancer in 2012 and without his companion Ernie lost his love for life and became very withdrawn until we decided to find a new friend for him and along came Lily. Despite having to take things easy since being diagnosed with a heart murmur, Ernie still loves to race around the garden with Lily or as you can see from this picture his favourite pastime is chilling out on his sun lounger. He might be a rescue dog but he wouldn't dream of sitting on the ground and will patiently wait for his mattress to be brought out and his lounger positioned just where he wants it. PAID

Lily upside down on her lounger with Ernie looking on! This is Lily less than a year after she came to us from Greenfields Greyhound Rescue. She was very quiet and shy when we first adopted her and was terrified of everything so it was really satisfying to see her come out of her shell and start to enjoy life. As you can see she absolutely adores sunbathing and even with Ernie looking down his nose at her it won't put her off working on that all over tan! PAID

Walt comes from Kerry Greyhounds, and has brought ridiculous levels of joy and laughter to our lives. Even if he can't be distracted from staring at cats, as he is in this picture. PAID
