Many thanks to Lisa and all involved in us finding Reggie, a new playmate for Lola. I've found Greyhound Gap to be extremely thorough in finding a match for us and Lola, from first contact to the assurance that we have a support network in place to smooth the change from a one dog family to two! If you're looking for a sight-hound to rescue, you've arrived at the right place. Reggie came home to us today. We were almost home before Lola told Reggie off for something (no idea what, I was too busy driving). It was just a small tell-off! Not bad for a two hour journey. Home and out of the car for a race around the garden, a drink of water then a good long walk (hour & half) then another rush around the garden. Into the house for a short rest then race around the front room! After eating happily side-by-side, Reggie decided he'd like Lola's place on the sofa. She gave it up and wriggled on the floor! Lisa called to check that all is going to plan. Thanks Lisa! After loaning the sofa for a couple of hours, Lola agreed to share.... We should be ignoring both dogs to allow them to bond, but Reggie doesn't understand that! He wriggles closer until he's touching someone. Next challenge is to settle them for the night.....

Last night Reggie decided that sleeping on a pile of duvets on the kitchen floor was just not good enough for him. Oh the beautiful hound howl! We relented at 1:00am and let him onto a comfortable chair where he settled. He's doing a great job of training us!! Talking to Lisa today, I learned that the positive, is that Lola joining in the howling is a good sign that they are bonding.... Today was spend playing, running around the veg patch and van... Walking (two and a half hours!), begging for more play..... and finally resting with tangly legs! No messing with the kitchen tonight, it'll be straight to the comfortable chairs!

Update: Reggie is continuing to settle well and continues to delight. He and Lola are enjoying a regular run in a secure field and Reggie is learning that the paddle in the stream at the end is to clean some of the mud off! They both get complimentary comments from passers-by. There's plenty of play and our furniture gets moved around regularly (thinking of removing castors from chairs!!). They still "debate" who has priority for the sunny spot in the conservatory until the sun moves round giving enough space for both. Both seem to enjoy watching the world go by at the window and saying "hello" to passing dogs (we now remove collars in the house as Reggie grabs Lola's collar and hangs on). .... and after a hard day, they snooze together on their new bed....
