From Anne:
Please pass a warning to Saluki friends. Three Saluki's have been stolen recently, one from Chesterfield area, one from Grays Essex and most recently a silver grizzle bitch. The scum broke the window of the car to snatch this bitch leaving the other dogs, one may well have had a go which may have prevented the others going.
This happened on Sunday at Limpsfield Surrey. There are some leads so fingers and toes crossed. The dog from Grays is a red very nearly full Saluki and the bitch from Chesterfield is a shaded red, again a cross but very Saluki looking. Please stay alert Ann

Thanks for the warning. I'll let my friend know, she has a full blood Saluki. Even tho we are in the Lancashire area you can't be too careful and it has happened around here as well in the past. A bitch and a dog were stolen out of a car when the window was smashed. They took the bitch then realised it had been spayed and so dumped her on the main road. Fortunately she was caught unhurt. When Santana was alive, my OH was followed several times and offered money for him. He was a straight greyxsaluki cross. We were told by another longdog owner that the best course of action was to counteract any offer by saying, 'you wouldn't want it, it can't keep its mouth shut when its in the chase'. Apparently that is a real no-no if you are going lamping or poaching with them. Of course, if they have an eye on the dog for breeding, a casual mention of a certain castration operation tends to put them off... goes for bitches as well. Hx

Thanks for that! My two always get interest but I must admit, the last couple of months I've had a couple of off roads pull up alongside us and just stare. Not in a nice way. Lucky for me I'm forewarned by a gamey mate if they know if anyone is in the area. Still a worry tho x

If anyone ever asks you about your dogs tell them they are neutered, don't chase, are barkers, have a heart problem, arthritic, old fracture and any other medical problem you can think of. If you are followed don't go home, you don't want any dodgy people knowing where you live, just go somewhere busy until you lose them or phone for help.
