Sent: Friday, October 02, 2009 8:11 AM Subject: Stolen Dog Posted with owner's permission, please cross post. Please please could you help us. STOLEN our family dog, a black lurcher cross we adopted from the Bluecross. She is spayed and microchipped. Our family dog was stolen from outside Sainsbury's, Heyford Hill, Oxford on Saturday 19th September. Our two children aged 4 and 7 as well as are devastated, and so are we. Please, if you can, help us distribute our poster and her picture as widely as possible. We need our lovely dog back home, she has already had a very difficult time and we were providing her with a loving home which she had just settled into - and then she was stolen. She is about 1 year and 5 months old. She is very distinctive, she looks egyptian, possibly a pharaoh hound cross. Her ears stick up and are very pointy. She is jet black with a white mark on her chest and the second and third toe on every paw is white. She has a pea sized bald patch on her left shoulder. Her shoulder height is just about knee height. Please help us to get our dog home. We offer a cash reward and just want to have her home with us. We need to find out where she is. A sincere thank you from all of us Reduced: 90% of original size [ 565 x 799 ] - Click to view full image Canny Hart Volunteer & Events Co-ordinator (Devon) Greyhound Rescue West of England (GRWE) PO Box 4243 Radstock BA3 3ZL W: www.grwe.comT: 07000 785 092

Has the owner contacted DogLost? They have volunteers in all areas who would help with searches, postering etc. Here's a link. www.doglost.co.uk/page.aspx?pg=72 It always worries me greatly when I see dogs left unattended outside shops etc. You never know these days who's about and what they might do. I do hope their girl is back with them very soon. Jackie x

Just got an email from doglost and the lurcher has been found because it was microchiped. It was 80miles away. Dogwatch No. 370 Stolen Lurcher Recovered 80 Miles from Home A black lurcher which was stolen whilst tied up outside Sainsburys in Oxford on 19 September was found today 80 miles away in Leicestershire. The incident was recorded on CCTV. A spokesman for Animal Finders said "This is a lesson to us all about the importance of microchiping. There is no way that the dog would have got home if it had not been microchipped." DOGWATCH

Super news. Just shows the worth of chipping and also the risks of leaving a dog unsupervised anywhere these days I guess.
