Two-year-old Billy (formerly Bosley) joined our family on the 28th January this year.
Although little more than a pup himself, Billy had been canoodling with his kennel-mate, the lovely Edie ~ and between them they produced the gorgeous pups (7 I think?) which kept Lisa well-occupied for 10 weeks or so!
Here's Billy and Edie ... reunited at the Gap Show ;D:
From the very beginning Billy was a happy-smiley boy, despite initially looking a bit 'rough around the edges'. (He was under-weight and his coat was very sparse, dandruffy, and lack-lustre.)
Having ruled out mange and mites, our vet prescribed baths with 'Sebocalm' ~ an expensive but highly effective canine shampoo. Billy is such a good-natured, mild-mannered hound that he was able to tolerate the idignity of regular bathing ~ despite his inherent dislike of 'being wet'.
Within weeks he'd shed his 'poor' hair (quite literally ~ it all dropped off!) and it was replaced with the most enviable, sleek, glossy black coat imaginable.
Billy settled in to home life very quickly. A racing reject, he'd been fostered by Vicky prior to re-homing ~ and as everyone here probably knows, Lisa does a fabulous 'toilet training' job with all of her adoptees! So apart from a couple of minor accidents while Bill was fathoming out the best way of asking for the back door to be opened, he has been an incredibly clean boy.
He's small-dog friendly; cat-curious; and even bird-safe (which is great because three families of thrushes and blackbirds have been successfully fledged in our garden this year
Billy is very fond of his older 'brother', retired-racer Bob ...
... and he gets on well with his two mongrel 'sisters', Lucy and Suzy.
Billy is the quietest of all four dogs (in fact I can't remember the last time I heard him bark) and he remains confident even when strange men come into the house (not that strange men are invited in *that*often! He's also remarkably unfazed by fireworks and thunder.
Being a huge foodie meant that Billy learnt his re-call in a matter of days ~ egged on by the prospect of cheese-cube rewards! And so in no time at all he was able to take full advantage of daily off-lead romps in our local Nature Reserve.
All-in-all ... Billy is FABULOUS! A big handsome boy who went from this ...
