Tara came to us in august 2004 when her time was up at birmingham dogs home She was 10 1/2 and although her previous owners were traced, they now had a new puppy and didn't want her back.
We already had 2 other hounds, the second who we got not directly from gap but through them in january 2004, our little Willow.
After seeing all the dogs needing foster homes, we decided to give it a go and Lisa phoned me up asking us to take Tara, a dear little old lady NOT!
After picking her up at a motorway service station from Brad, we brought her home to meet the other dogs.
Andy and Willow don't have problems with other dogs, but when Tara entered their house, SHE growled at them. After being told to shut it, she settled down immediately and was no trouble whatsoever. She was totally clean in the house from day one, a real sweetheart with the kids and got on really well with my other two. It didn't take long for her to win my heart, and although she's a feisty old girl out with other dogs, she's a complete pleasure.
I begged Mark to let me keep her, and he said if she hadn't been homed after a month she could stay. When the month was up, that was it he couldn't get out of it ;D
She's mellowed so much in the last 10 months, and now regularly goes off lead, which I never thought would be possible. She is muzzled when off lead but happily runs with other dogs and generally enjoys life to the full.
Relaxing with Andy ;D
Camping this year, with my youngest son ;D
Chilling on the campsite after a good days walking
