This is George
"This is our second Norwegian Elkhound in a week, both have been in a bad state.
We need a miracle for poor george the odds are really stacked against him. He is a gorgeous two year old male Norwegian elkhound. George was found three weeks ago in a schoolyard in a very bad state. He was extremely thin and his coat was very poor, and worst of all he had a growth on his back which had ulcerated. This growth was removed and it was found to be cancerous,it vetinary terms its called a keratocanthoma. The pathology report showed that all the tumour was excised and the wound has now fully healed. The cancer is a form which elkhounds are prone to and their is a possibility it might reoccur in another part of the body. George also has a skin condition which is quite active at the moment, particulary on his hip and legs probably due to his whole general condition being below par.He is currently being treated with steroids for his skin.
George is a fantastic dog and we'd love him to find a home,George needs a special person to take him into their life."
I have been in contact with the rescue tonight, George is still at the vets, and is not doing well. The rescue have no where for him to go as they are bursting with pup's and mum's and other sick dogs. And it is thought that if they cant find anywhere soon it would be best to put him to sleep, due to the fact that they will not be able to find him a home, And he is in such a bad way and it would be the kindest thing for him. which I can understand, but not this boy! He has suffered so badly at the hands of humans, He deserves to know love and kindness for how ever long he has left.
If you can think of anyone that could help him, or offer him a long term foster or home please contact me asap. I promised I would come up with a miracle (a home) but time is running out.
