Relatives have just adopted a beautiful greyhound, straight from kennels. He has only raced 3 times, he's never been in a house before. He is doing really well (obviously not house trained and doesnt do stairs but he seems very clever and will soon learn) However, he wags his tail up and down not side to side! This isnt a problem but I just wondered if anyone had heard of this before and should they be worried? Thanks in advance if anyone can throw any light on this.

I wouldn't worry! Greyhounds are not like other dogs....they are very special and have odd quirks unlike any other breed. They make the most wonderful pets and as long as your relatives are kind and gentle with him, he will quickly learn what is required and you will all have many happy years with him.

Thank you for your reply ragsysmum, not worried just very curious as we've never seen a dog do this before greyhound or other breed. Certainly made us laugh and doesnt seem to cause any discomfort to him.Just wondered if anyone had come across this before,
