I am taking my boy to the vets on Wednesday to get this suspicious lump checked out. I was just wondering if anyone has had the same issue and what the outcome was? My boy lurcher who is only 4 has this lump that has doubled in size and now started to bleed! It's on his hind right leg just above the elbow. He's not lame and his usual cheeky happy self. I'm obviously automatically presuming the worse and thinking my pride and joy has the big C. any stories I would be grateful for good or bad.. I would like to prepare myself for the worse should it be the case.

I think the fact that the lump is growing very fast and is bleeding doesn't sound good, but hopefully your vet will suggest it be removed anyway. Please let us know how you get on on Wednesday.

Ours have had various ones over the years but only one turned out to be nasty. It had been there for ages on the back of Rivers neck as small pearly lump which we kept an eye on. It suddenly grew massively over 3 days and developed a red line across it so vet removed it urgently and took a good margin. Turned out to be a very aggressive cancer but hadn't spread and the vet had got all of the cells as it didn't come back.
Good luck x

Menta has a number of soft lumps , one that looks like an enlarged nipple and another smallish but hard lump these are all on one side of the front of left chest. None are growing, I have had Jan our vet to look at them a number of times but none are painful for Menta if touched, also not bleeding or oozing therefore he prefers not to remove any especially the last two that have only come to light after Menta had her last hair trim. Both of these do not feel as if they are connected elsewhere in her body. He says if Menta would stay still if there is need to remove these two he would try to remove them by a local but because she is diabetic and has an enlarged heart also she will be 12 in January he prefers leaving them alone unless they started to grow and/or caused pain to Menta, Last time he had to remove a lump from just in front of her right ear he attempted to locally sedate the area around the lump a number of times but Menta would not cooperate and in the end he had to sedate her, When the sedation was wearing off Menta being Blind was panicking as she was in a strange place and with people she could nor recognise, she calmed down as soon as she realised I was there waiting to take her home. Jan is also bothered that the skin recover might not be okay because she is diabetic
