Hi there! Been meaning to post this for ages! I don't know if you remember the litter of puppies taken in by Gap early last year (3 cream, 2 brindle and one red), but we were one of the families lucky enough to adopt one of them. Lisa thought we were a good match for the red pup, so I drove on up to the kennels with our JRT Putney to meet him, and as that went well we took him home, in a JRT basket, that's how small he was!
We named him Hendon. (Yes, all our dogs have place name names. Don't ask... long story )
This is Hendy on one of his first walks - he'd only just had his second round of vacs so this was how I worked it with 3 other dogs plus him for two weeks! He wasn't too impressed, hence avoiding the camera!!
He didn't stay small for long though!! This was him in October. And he's *still* growing! We've told him he's really got to stop now...
He settled in fairly quickly, though the first two weeks or so were a bit difficult at times. Hendon was definitely the most vocal pup we've ever had! He still has his moments now; especially when one of us is trying to tell him off and he just breaks into song, and you're stood there trying hard to keep a straight face. (Not a hope!)
The other dogs in our pack all took to him well, at their own pace. Popper, our lurcher bitch, has kept order and made sure all the boys tow the line and know their place
We took Hendy with us to the Gap dog show last year and we met two of his litter mates Oliver, who was going off to his new home that day, and Tally, which was fun. We'd love to see/hear how his brothers and sisters have been getting on.
Hendy's a cheerful, friendly chap, always keen to say hello to *everyone* he meets - greeting them with a waving backside (a tail just isn't enough to show how pleased he is to see them!) and a "Woooo-ooo-oooh!" He loves going out in the car, though he refuses to jump in; he waits to be lifted, if you please! And cos we're mugs, we do it
These are the latest pics, from today.
We're so glad Hendy's part of our family, we love him! We'd like to thank everyone at Greyhound Gap for all the hard work they put in rescuing the dogs and finding them new homes.
